Sealing application guide

How should buyers specify PTFE and fluoropolymer seals?

A seal quotation starts with the media, temperature, pressure and mating geometry—not only the outside dimensions of the gasket or O-ring.

PTFE gaskets prepared for fluoropolymer sealing quotation review

Quick answer

Start from operating conditions and the finished requirement.

PTFE gaskets, washers, packing, coated or encapsulated O-rings and machined sealing parts solve different problems. Identify static or dynamic duty, media, pressure, temperature, flange or groove condition and expected maintenance cycle.

Flat seals

Provide OD, ID, thickness, flange or standard, bolt pattern where relevant, media, pressure and quantity.

O-rings

Provide inside diameter and cross-section or standard size, core and jacket expectation, groove data and service conditions.

Packing and custom seals

Provide section, length, density or construction reference, equipment type, shaft movement and drawing where available.

RFQ workflow

Four steps before requesting a quotation.

  1. 01

    Classify the seal

State gasket, washer, O-ring, packing, lip seal or drawing-based component and whether duty is static or dynamic.

  2. 02

    State service conditions

Provide media, concentration, temperature, pressure or vacuum, motion and cleaning exposure.

  3. 03

    State mating geometry

Provide flange, groove, shaft, housing, surface and tolerance information that affects compression and fit.

  4. 04

    Confirm evidence

Agree grade, dimensions, appearance, packing and any order-specific inspection or documents.

Evidence status

Selection guidance is not final engineering approval.

Confirmed: product families and RFQ fields shown on this website. Highly likely: the listed material families may be relevant to the described application. To verify: final grade, dimensions, performance, compliance, inspection, MOQ and lead time for the specific order.
